Trimming out useless video while editing

Post by tommytucker »

Any idea if it is possible to trim out useless parts of captured video in VS9? I would also like the saved good clip to remain on hard drive and not the orginal clip with useless beginning and ending.

I use the scissors to cut up the original into individual clips that I want to keep - and those I nolonger want (shots of the grass etc :-) ). Then I use "Clip -> Save Trimmed Video" on each clip that I want to keep - this creates a separate .avi file on your hard drive for that particular clip contents. Once all the required clips have been saved this way, then you can delete the original.

While I do not like little bits of video stored on my PC and prefer to edit first as shown on the "Edit in Timeline" page of my website then when editing is complete go to "Share >> Create Video File >> DV" to rejoin everything back together as one file - then you can delete the original captured file if you want to.
