Hi, little overwelming with features of my Ulead 9.
Can I just edit .avi and then save it as .avi ?
Right now all go to project .vsp.

Yes, it is possible. But you are confusing terms a little. If you simply use the command 'save', it will indeed only save the Video Studio Project (VSP) file. If you want to have your completed AVI project, with all editing done, be 'saved' as an AVI, you must instead go to Share > Create Video File > AVI.
Be careful, though, because I suspect you may have DV/AVI files (if you captured from a digital mini DV video camera). In that case, you choose Share > Create Video File > DV. Otherwise, if you choose 'AVI', it will produce an uncompressed AVI file which will be huge (65GB per hour). A DV/AVI file, on the other hand, is slightly compressed and will take about 13 GB per hour.

OK -- but with a file that size, it is neither a DV nor uncompressed AVI file -- a half hour DV file would be over 6 GB in size, and an uncompressed AVI would be over 30 GB. So I am guessing that in fact you have an mpeg-4 or DivX or XVid file which uses 'AVI' merely as a wrapper format. Can you right click on the file in the timeline and copying down its properties here, please.
If you are wanting to output exactly the same format of AVI with VS 9, then you will need the optional mpeg-4 plug-in which was a free download for registered users of the program. And when you go to Share > Create Video File > AVI, you would further have to choose one of the mpeg-4 codecs.
