I captured many videos in a SVCD format, but the VS doesn't let me to burn them in a DVD disc (4.7 Gb) , the VS forces me to burn it in CD (700 mb), (Just in case, I am starting to use the VS 9).
I am not talking to burn the SVCD format as a DVD format , I mean to burn the SVCD format in a DVD disc, keeping the movies in the SVCD format, I understand that the DVD disc is a storage device, so it is supposed to accept any kind of file as the SVCD format.
If somebody know how to burn SVCD in a DVD (4.7 gb)?, help me please. I will aprecciate it very much.

If you just want to archive your SVCD files on a DVD, then you don't use Video Studio. Use a program like Nero or Roxio, and select 'Data DVD' as the target device. Then simply drag and drop your SVCD files into the file list for burning, then burn. This will of course not play like a video disc in a DVD player -- though I think you already know that.

Hi
You could simply burn all the files from your SVCDs onto the DVD but burn them as datafiles. If you have Nero then the adequate setting would be DVD-ROM(ISO). If you have several SVCDs then you could put each one into a seperate folder.
But note, you will not be able to play the SVCD files with a standalone DVD-Player. They will only be playable on the PC.
Why don't you want to convert to DVD format? I would recommend to do this.

So, it is not possible to burn it in a way that can be recognized by a DVD player?. I am asking that , because the VS9 has an option to burn 6 VCDS in a DVD disc keeping them in a VCD format ( I haven't done that but it is an option) so there is no way to do the same with SVCD format.
Or maybe you know other software that can do it ( by the way I tried NERO 7 premium and happens the same, it forces me to burn the SVCD movies in a CD 700 mb.)

Hi Peter
The option to burn 6 vcd’s to one disc is not using the standard VCD format but using a DVD format.
The frame size and bit rates have been drastically reduced in order to create small file sizes, allowing you to fit hours to a disc.
See below.
MPEG files
24 Bits, 352 x 288, 25 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-PAL), 4:3
Video data rate: 1150 kbps
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo
This should produce a disc that should play on a Dvd player.
If you try to use the Archive 6 Vcd’s to one disc option, your files will be recoded/rendered to the above properties prior to burning. I would recommend that you render the files yourself to check quality before trying to burn.
VS 9 uses these properties for its VCD format:-
MPEG files
24 Bits, 352 x 288, 25 fps
Frame-based
(Video CD-PAL), 4:3
Video data rate: 1150 kbps
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 44.1 KHz, Stereo
I cannot understand why they have used the description VCD when creating a DVD?????????
Seems confusing to me.
If you are not in a Pal area then your format should indicate Ntsc.
Hope this Helps

Well, I can notice that some templates are similiar even if you choose DVD or VCD, the less quality of DVD NTSC (352x240) has the same caracteriztics that VCD (352x240), I really dont notice what is the difference, to me are the same, just the name is different ( DVD and VCD). It really gets me confused these names.
I noticed the difference between DVD NTSC (352x240) and VCD (352x240), just when I use dolby digital audio but my file gets heavier.
So when I tried to find a similar template for SVCD NTSC ( 480X480) in VS9, I can't find it. I suppose that I have to render my SVCD movies to burn on a DVD disck (4.7 GB).
Finally, I am not sure but I am concluding that DVD disk just accepts templates DVD and not other. So if I have others kinf of templates I have to render them compulsory.
If I am saying something wrong. I will appreciate that you clarify my points of wiew.
