Ulead sign on screen

Post by donandjay »

Having all but given up on contacting Ulead by telephone, I attempted to put in a technical support form but every time I submit it, it just brings me back to an empty new sigon on screen and I never get taken to the actual problem screen so now I cannot submit my problem by phone or by form. I hope all of this is my problem, although their telephone anwsering machine message is truly in error.

I had also lot of problems with uleads web site. From my experiance:
- enable referer in firewall / browser / webclient
- enable java script
- disable (throw out) any provider proxies :!:
- set browser to identify as IE
- I assume you are using a aol client. If so try to access the web using a standard browser eventually using a an internet by call acount

Since you are using VS8SE, you cannot submit requests for technical assistance -- which is available only for *registered* owners of *full* versions (i.e. not free SE versions which come bundled with hardware). But I understand from your other post that you have now bought a full version of VS10. If so, you can register it and qualify for technical support by using the serial number which should have come with the package.

As it is, I think the response to your technical form is simply to ask you to log-on to the members' part of the Board and thus establish that you are a registered owner.

I am not using VSE8. I upgraded to verision 10 plus over the weekend and that is the version that I am having trouble with. I only mentioned version 8 as it was working with my creative lab audity 2 ZS but does not work as shown in the version 10 manual. Apparently, version 10 cannot recognize the audigy unit as I am not given any options like your manual describes for analog video, i.e. composite or s-video in the source dropdown list of the capture window. I guess I did not explain this well enough since you seem to think I am using version 8. I am having to go back to version 8 as it does work with the audigy unit but naturally that was a lite version and I want to take advantage of all the features I just paid for in version 10. And another, thing what's up with your phone system. Every time I call in today it tells me you will be closed for the xmas holidays and then hangs up. How difficult are you trying to make this for new users anyway. Is there some secret undocumented method I need to know about in order to get a good phone number with someone on the other end. Also, I cannot sign on to fill in a request form for help as each time I do sign on I am presented with the same sign on screen again blanked out. I have my setting to accept all popups so I cannot even get help with your help form. Good lord!!!!

Don't take your frustration out on me! I have no connection with Ulead other than, like you, being a customer for some of their products.

And my advice in this thread remains the same, regardless of which version you are using. You can only contact technical support if you are a *registered* owner of a full version. Now, you tell us you have the full version of VS10. But did you register it? The registration process involves giving a user name and password. Thereafter, this allows you to sign into the section of the Ulead site where you can, amongst other things, submit requests for technical support. If you don't have a username and password recognised by Ulead to establish you are a registered owner, you cannot submit a request for technical support. Capisce?

That being said, I don't know what might be wrong with Ulead's phone line. The only time I have ever submitted a technical request to them was via the internet 4 years ago, as it is prohibitively expensive to phone them from here in Australia where I live. And their response was so meaningless that I have never bothered contacting them since. But that is one of the reasons I -- and quite a few others like me -- volunteer their time to assist on this Board. In other words, trying to help others help themselves when Ulead either can't or won't for whatever reason.

Go to Creative website and check for any new driver for your sound card to see if it helps.

http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/

If it does not help, register your Ulead product and fill the tech support form via http://www.ulead.com/tech/techsupport.htm with Internet Explorer as Ken said.

After you submit the tech support form, you should get the auto response mail from Ulead in a short time. If not, then your submittion is not successful or your ISP / mail client has filtered Ulead tech support mails as sapm and you might need to turn the spam filter off and try again.

Hope this helps.

Let's not lose sight of the football here. The main problem you have isn't contacting Ulead - you have the members of this forum here to help.
The main problem you have is that
version 8 as it was working with my creative lab audity 2 ZS but does not work as shown in the version 10 manual. Apparently, version 10 cannot recognize the audigy unit as I am not given any options like your manual describes for analog video, i.e. composite or s-video in the source dropdown list of the capture window.
The simple answer is you can spend hours, even days trying to fix this problem but why bother when you can capture with other software - in your case version 8 does the capture job for you.

Capture with version 8 (or any other software capable of capturing) and save that as a video file. Then open that Videofile with Version 10 to do your editing.

Too many users spend countless hours beating their head against a wall trying to make a product an "All in one" solution.

I don't. See this post:
