How can I make a black/White pic and have the roses in red?

Post by Baika »

Hi,

maybe somebody can help me. I want to make a picture from my wedding in black/white and want to keep the roses their origin colour in red. Can somebody tell me how to do it? If possible in exact steps...I have to translate it in my language :-)

Thank you so much for your support! :D

Kind regards,
Anette

This is the long work-around since PI doesn’t have a desaturate command.

Select the Magic Wand tool.

Set the Tool Options to the following: Click the + icon, (Make a selection by addition), check Area, set the Range of color to determine to between 80 to 100, and check Connected Pixels.

Click on the Roses, not all of the areas may be selected. Continue clicking on the unselected areas until the entire rose is selected.

Press the keys Ctrl + C to copy your selection.

On the Command Menu select, Adjust, and then Convert Data Type… and then select Grayscale. The image will convert to a grayscale. Now you must convert this image to an RGB True Type.

On the Command Menu select, Adjust, and then Convert Data Type… and then select RGB True Type. Press the Ctrl + V and the red roses will be pasted onto the area in the new image they were in the original.

Merge you image, Press Ctrl + Shift + M. Save your image to file.
