I upgrade last year from Video Studio 8 to 9 and havnt used it much till now. I have allot of video to edit, about 40 hours + and would like to know how I can totally eliminate clips or scenes I don't need. I thought 8 use to ask me when I deleted the clip from the library if I wanted to delete the file from the hard drive as well but I cant get 9 to offer the same service. And is there a way to multi trim clips and assign a file name that I can identify easier to each clip? I need to be able to take the long runs of video and chop out the sections I want to keep, name them and delete all the bad footage in between. Instead of storing the entire file on the hard drive and having VS9 index the few clips I need from hours of video in the library. I don't have the hard drive space to hold everything and need to crop out the best and delete the rest. Any help would be appreciated!
Would VS 10 be better suited for this type of editing? I read the comparisons and since I dont work with HD or care to create iPod video I was wondering if the upgrade again was needed. I am basicly just creating wood carving how-to instructional dvd's with the software and not movies. I just bounce back and forth between two camera's, one in front of me and one over my shoulder while I yammer away and work. Resulting in a ton of time editing footage between the two.
Thanks,
Ed

Yes holding the Shift key while pressing delete, will delete the thumbnail and the file from your harddrive in VS9.zehavi wrote:Hello Ed,
In VS10+ I am able to delete a clip from the hard drive by pressing on the "delete" and "shift" keys at the same time. You may try it on VS9 also.

If you have a look here :-
http://www.ulead.com/vs/compare2.htm
you will be able to see what features V10 has when compared to V9 - and then you can decide whether the features would be of any use to you.
