DVP File structures question? Is this correct?

Post by nutsnbolts »

Ok, I have a DVP file that I have saved to my...

D:/ItalyTrip... folder.

I named it Rome.dvp

However, I see a Rome.veproj file and a Rome Folder that was created as well. Within that folder is a bunch of..

Rome001.dvp
Rome002.dvp
Rome003.dvp

Is this normal?

I like to keep things tidy and all these extra files is confusing me. Is it safe to delete that folder?

Your Rome001... dvps are the automatic backups. If you don't want them, I suggest you uncheck the box in Preferences. You can limit the number, as well. I suggest 10 would be reasonable, 20 at the most, if you choose the default 10 minute interval, because you will presumably be saving your project from time to time.

The veproj file should not be deleted, as it may contain essential info for your project. However, you can delete the Rome folder if you wish, provided you are sure your Rome.dvp file opens correctly. It will come back if you have not unchecked the auto-back-ups, a few minutes after you restart the project.

Thanks!

That's wonderful. Now I know what is safe to remove.

I wondered what the veproj-file is good for - til I read Charlie Hills great book. It is used to store the project specific part of the production library. (project tray).
