How to work with Video? Panasonic VDR-53PP

Post by burntsox »

Very low computer level here, so type slowly!

My Panasonic VDR-53PP DVD Camcorder records to video. I got Ulead to work with the video on the disks (.VOB) but Disk Recorder 2.0 and the MF 5.0 suite in general cannot read the videos. When I try to input the video, I get the following errors:

In Import DVD:
unspecified error 0x80041468(5224)

The, I continue, then click Import:
Failed to get DVD disc stream reader 0x80040911(2321)

Anyone have a clue to throw my way?

Thanks, BS

PS - Am I the only one who thinks this program isn't easy to run?

O........K

Since your talking about VOB files then you recorded in dvd-video mode and not onto a dvd-ram disk, either using a dvd-rw or dvd-r/+r minidvd?
Did you finalize the dvd in the recorder before putting it into the computers dvd reader?
Are putting the the mini-dvd into the computers dvd reader and not trying to transfer via the usb cable?
======> All valid possibilities, and I thank you for suggesting them. But I am using the right type of mini DVD, I did finalize it, and I'm not using a USB cable (this model doesn't have one!). I respect you for suggesting these possibililites.

Your problem may be totally different than the above link, it depends on a few things.

You should register your product.
========> I see this comment a lot and, frankly, it bothers me. I have registered the product, and I think it's presumptuous to assume I haven't. So why haven't I gone to the online support, then? I have, and they haven't answered me for a week. I'll take my chances with the link, until someone responds.

???
===> this board is full of people who've paid good euros/dollars/zlotys on software that doesn't load properly, doesn't recognize files, and in many ways seems deficient. This falls within what I call not easy to run.

OK, so I was a little testy there, but Movie Factory 5 just flat out doesn't work with video files. I'm annoyed that Support doesn't, but I'm also annoyed at myself for getting a DVD camcorder, and getting the bottom of the line one that a) doesn't have a USB connection and b) didn't include Panasonic's proprietary software to manipulate images.

Now mind you: the camera works fine at what it does: it records images of my 1-year-old onto small DVDs. The problem is that I can't share these wonderful images with friends and family, and I have to watch the entire 20 minutes of her in the swimming pool to watch her take her first solo float.

So I'm disappointed, and disappointed that Ulead MovieFactory 5 doesn't help me any.

But, like the Italian guy, I don't have time to load and reload the software five times. I have a little girl to play with!
