Only NTSC in MF5 – Need PAL

Post by Penmore »

I’ve have MF2SE and MF4 working fine with my AVerMedia DVD EZMaker USB2.0 but cannot get MF5 out of it’s NTSC setting even though I select PAL/Secam at the installation stage.

When I open MF5 and select new project and go to Capture I have the following settings:
  • Project Preferences: TV system is PAL/SECAM
    Source: AVerMedia DVD EZMaker USB2.0
    Advanced settings:
    Capture options are greyed out.
    Video properties:
TV System NTSC with no PAL option
The display is black and white.
I’ve tried uninstalling all versions and deleting all temp files then reinstalling MF5 but still get the same result.

Does anybody know where the settings are to trip it into PAL capture mode?

Hi Penmore,

While installing, have you tried selecting your country and PAL/SECAM? I've read in some earlier posts where both were selected during the installation process.

Ron,

Thanks for your feedback, I think I did set both but will uninstall and reinstall and post back. I'm just wondering if MF5 perhaps has a previous setting somewhere, perhaps in the registry. I will take a look at that as well whilst I'm uninstalling and clearing MF5 off the machine.

I've come across people who have downloaded apps from the USA, where it ihas been cheaper, only to find that their version doesn't support the PAL option.

It’s certainly recognising the capture device as this shows in the Source box on the Capture screen but I don't know if that's the same, perhaps I need an updated driver.

The only software from the minimum system requirements that I don't have installed is Macromedia Flash player. I will install that on the machine later, give it another whirl and post back.

So far I haven't came across that with any of Ulead's. On every one I've installed, it provides the option to set it to PAL or NTSC and what country.

I've tried the latest driver but that doesn't make any difference. I've also tried Ulead Technical Support but all they say if that they don't give technical support on demo software.

I had hard disc problems with the machine on which I was testing the software and suspect that there is something missing for the re-installation of XP as VirtualVCR doesn’t work now either. Think I going to install the original software that came with the hardware and try again.

How in heavens name to Ulead expect to sell their software when it can't be evaluated properly because it can't be made to function in one of the basic setups. Doesn't give much credence to either their software or the likelihood of competent technical support for purchased software. I’m afraid Ulead have gone down in my estimation.

In your first post you stated that you have/had DMF2SE, and DMF4 working. Is DMF5 the trial version? From the information you've provided, the only one that appears to be trial/demo version is the DMF2SE, so Ulead should provide support for the rest you have listed, unless they too are just trial versions.

DMF2SE is the free software supplied with the USB capture device DMF4 and DMF5 are trial versions however, I still can't see the marketing logic if Ulead not helping potential customers get the trial versions working so they can be evaluated properly.

Just doesn't make sense.

I’m pleased to tell you all that I have resolved the issues of capture software for my AVerMedia DVD EZMaker USB2.0 by switching to another software company whose software installed and worked flawlessly first time. The quality of capture video is far superior that that produced by other software that I have tested including Ulead’s offerings.

Thank you all for your help and best wishes for the future.

Post by crovie »

Hi there
Been having the same problem you had, it really sucks ..
Wondering if you could recommend me another software to use

BTW
It's weird because the ULEAD DVD DiscRecorder 2.2 which Burns directly
from capture to Disc has under the menu - TV System : the option PAL
And it's working well there !!!!
