Analog Video Capture with 10 plus

Post by donandjay »

I just installed Visual Studio 10 Plus and so far have been unable to find the correct settings which would allow me to use an s-video input.

According to the help screens and I quote, well copy and paste: "To specify the type of video source you are capturing from, click Options then select Video and Audio Capture Property Settings. In the dialog box that opens, you can customize the following capture settings:

In the Source tab, choose whether you are capturing NTSC, PAL, or SECAM video and select the Input source (Tuner, S-Video, or Composite). "

Well. when I click on options in the capture window and then click on audio capture property settings, there is no source tab in the dialogue box which is displayed which would allow me to select S-Video or composite.
The only options I get in the video and audio settings are a bunch of profiles, none of which says anthing about S-video, there is no source option. Are the screens for another version of Visual Studio and not Version 10 plux. So to date I cannot use any of my Hi-8 tapes of which I have a lot to transfer to dvds.

S-Video only carries the video data stream, no audio. So to capture analogue video using S-Video, you would need to connect an audio cable from the source (VCR, camcorder, TV..) to a Line-In sound port on your computer. This is normally found on your soundcard. Do not mistake connecting to the mic input, the levels are quite different.

It is difficult to respond beyond that, given we don't know what device you are capturing with. Please provide as much detail as possible, so we can help you.
