video plays back in black.

When I attempt to watch a video clip, or even drag the timeline to see the motion, the screen turns almost black. I saved the clip and attempted to watch it in windows media player, and it was black as well. I recently had to completely reload my operating system, could this be the problem?

It's most likely the driver for your video card -- determine who the manufacturer of the video chip is (DXDIAG will tell you in the Display tab if you don't know), and download the latest WHQL-certified driver and install that.
