RAW Auto error

Each time I open a RAW file in the editor and go to the top right white blance under "auto" my whole program shuts down. no errors or anything, is this a common promblem that anyone knows about?

If it was common nobody would use it. We need more detail, RAW format? image sizes etc.

ok NEF files that come off the RAW setting on a Nikon
the RAW editor on PhotoImpact 11
if you open a NEF file it goes directly into the RAW editor for you to fix up until you click ok at the bottom right and proceed to PI 11
thing is the first set of adjustments for white balance at the top has a drop down menu with "auto" being the first "white blance" setting and everytime i click that setting the whole RAW editor AND PI 11 both shut down instantly for no reason
I have tried other "settings" at the top and "auto" is the only one that gives me these issues

We know nothing of the crucial spec's of your system, please update the system spec's in your profile.

The issue you are having could be memory related since a RAW image is a rather large file and the auto setting may be straining your resources.
