Color changes at every edit

Post by srbentley »

I recently used the "Recommended Procedure For Success with Video Studio" with VS 9 when editing some imported mpg video. I followed the procedures for creating the output DVD. But when watching the finished DVD the color changes at every point in the program where an edit was made. For example, you see nice skin tone--EDIT POINT--skin tone is way off again... until the next edit. I watch the output mpg in windows media player and it looks fine. Has anyone else seen this and figured out how to fix it?

Thanks!

Does the color change at the edit point and continue as the same until the next edit point? Or does it change at the edit point and then come back again?

The color shift stays the same until the next edit point. It's like every odd edit point causes the color to get messed up, and it stays that way until the next even number edit point.

Are you saying it happens only during the preview (within the VS9 Preview screen), and when you render to a new output file, the output file looks fine :?:

The output mpg when viewed in Windows Media Player does not show the change in color, but the created DVD does. Maybe Windows Media Player isn't sensitive enough to show it (the quality looks pretty bad in WMP anyway but looks fine on the finished DVD... except for the color changes)

If you don't edit the clip at all and produce a DVD does it look good without any color changes?

Yes, if I produce a DVD with no edits it looks fine.

Is it possible to capture the same footage in AVI and see if the resulting DVD has this same problem?
