Hi Liu2, and welcome to the forums..:)

To insert an image file, you can:

1. Select a video track, say Track 1. Then from the menu select insert image file.

2. Select the Overlay Step (buttons across the top). Then go to File Menu>Insert Media FileTo Timeline>Insert Image File.

3. You can also Go to File Menu>Insert Media File to Library>Insert Image File. Then from the Image Library drag the image to the overlay track.

The Libraries are the thumbnails you see, and accessing different libraries can be done using the pull-down menu. Video is the default library.

I suspect you are wanting the image file used as a Lower Third. If so then once you have it on the timeline, in the Preview Window, you can drag it to the bottom, keeping it within the title safe area.

how can the background be transparent?

I tried it, but how can I have the image with transparent background?

you need to create the image in PhotoShop (or whatever you use) with the necessary transparency and save it as a .png file which will preserve the transparency and then import that into the overlay track of UVS .

Or you could make your image with plain green in the bits you want transparent and then use the Chroma-key option to make them transparent.

Liu2,

Could you also complete your system specs in your profile please? What version of VS are you using? The Chroma-Key feature didn't show up until VS9.

I might also direct your attention to the Tutorials Section, Click Here.

You might also be interested in Charlie Hill's book, Getting Results with Video Studio 8, or 9.

Are you placing it on one of the Overlay Tracks as BrianCee advised?

If you are using a png image and placing it on the overlay track, it VS should automatically recognize the alpha channel. So the background should be transparent. The only thing I can think of, is that you have not saved your image with a transparent background.

What program are you using to create your png image? What version of VideoStudio are you using?
