Video filter doesn't take effect
Doesn't take effect correctly (they way it looks in the filter preview window) when I start to create output file. I fiddled with it for hours. Any fixes? And my trial version filter preview window is only about 1 sq in. Trial version also has burn function disabled I think and it converts AVI into MPEG w/no sound. I thought this software was pretty good but I think I'd rather go to another vender.

Re: Video filter doesn't take effect
Did you set the key frames on each side of the clip in the preview? They can be found below the jogbar, it's a red diamond. You need to advance the jogbar to the last frame to set the one on the other end.grov01 wrote:Doesn't take effect correctly (they way it looks in the filter preview window) when I start to create output file. I think he's talking about the preview window that is shown when you customize a filter or effect -- that window really is ridiculously small and practically unusable.
Regarding filter(s) not taking effect, are you using Clip preview, or Project preview? If you want to see an approximation of what the rendered output with all effects will look like, be sure to use Project preview.
Also, there were issues with filters / effects not working correctly and even causing crashes if more than five (I think) were used -- these have been addressed in a patch, but the patch will not work with the trial version you have.

I cannot tell you how many times I have thought the very same thing to myself. I understand them wanting to keep it small for people with slower machines but at the very least there should be a option.THoff wrote:I think he's talking about the preview window that is shown when you customize a filter or effect -- that window really is ridiculously small and practically unusable.

If they simply made the dialog and preview windows sizeable (with some extra intelligence to remember the last window size and position), it would address all this nonsense. People with slow machines would be able to have a tiny unusable window if desired, and the rest of us would be happy, too.
I actually don't think the small window speeds things up at all. The preview video is generated from a full-sized frame with whatever filter/effect applied to it, and then scaling it down to a small size is actually more work than outputting the full-sized frame of video. On top of that, all modern video cards handle StretchBlt calls in hardware, so there is nothing to gain from having a postage stamp-sized preview that is a useless approximation of what you'll get.
