Slideshow screensaver no longer works after upgrade to 8.5

I have just upgraded to PEX 8.5 from PEX 8.0. I had created a slideshow in PEX 8.0 which I saved as my screensaver. It worked without any problems. After upgrading to PEX8.5 the screensaver no longer works. I can open the slideshow without difficulty in PEX8.5 or create a new slideshow. When I click the screensave icon I receive a message saying "This slideshow has been set to be your screensaver."

However when I open Display/Properties/Screensaver I receive an error message "Cannot find PhotoExplorer for the Screen Saver" even though PhotoExplorer 85 appears in the list of available screensavers.

My slideshows are saved in the default folder "My Documents/slideshows". The OS is W2k SP4. Any suggestions welcome!

Well I managed to fix it as follows. First I checked the integrity of my downloaded file by seeing if it would install OK on another computer running XP. It did. I then uninstalled Pex 8.5 on my W2k computer, removed every folder still remaining of Photo Explorer and deleted every reference to Pex 8 and 8.5 I could find in the registry, then ran Regclean and finally reinstalled Pex 8.5.
