ATI All-In-Wonder and TV Tuners

Post by GuyL »

I've had nothing but ATI All-In-Wonder cards for years. Over the last few years I've become as much of a gamer as a video nut. These cards are great and I have nothing to say but great things but I'm looking to move to a PCIe platform and I'm considering breaking away from the all in one solution.

My question is, how do the TV Wonder Pro cards compare? I use my all in wonder frequently to capture TV and analog sources through S-Video and composite. I use the huffyuv codec when capturing analog and MPEG2 when I don't plan to edit. Does anyone know if the performance on these basic cards are comparable. I don't want to move and start getting all kinds of performance issues and dropped frames as a result.

Thanks, MD.

I run 2 displays on my system so I also view other applications on other monitors while other apps are running. I usually don't do much of that during a capture but it is nice to surf while watching the progress of a rendering project. I also use Microsoft's Virtual PC so I can load independent systems too.

Thanks, I think it is time to leap to PCIe...well from a gaming standpoint. It really doesn't matter from a video editing standpoint yet. Hopefully that changes in the future. There is some stuff coming in DX10 that will allow more access to the GPU. Video software should be able to take advantage of that.
