My capture card won't allow a preview of video while capturing it. Is there a special menu in MF5 that will allow me to disable preview while capturing? I have a direct-to-DVD software that has the option, but I'd liek to try MF5 for some simple editing.
Thanks!
Rob
Possible to disable preview in Movie Fact. 5?

The simple answer is to use the other capture software to capture to your hard drive. Start up MovieFactory and then import the captured file.
Here's an example with a TV card where I capture with WinTV2000 and then import into MovieFactory:
Create DVD from Hauppauge TV Card

Therein lies the rub. The other software stops whenever there is a transition in the scene (i.e. I stopped then restarted recording). This prevents unattended transfer from tape to computer (I can't monitor the recording process). Of course, I am unable to disable this.
Is there any Ulead software that allows the following: ?
1. Unattended transfer.
2. Auto-create chapter points.
3. Simple chapter editing.
4. Capture without preview.
5. Continuous recording (no video-detect).
Am I asking too much of a consumer product?
Thank you for the rapid previous reply!

5. Continuous recording (no video-detect)
Regarding item 4 none of the Ulead products will do that.
With the exception of MovieFactory 5 the following will all do 1 -2 - 5 above.
MovieFactory, VideoStudio, MediaStudio.
There is a problem with MovieFactory 5 in respect of item 5 above where it is currently splitting the video at 4GB intervals - however this is being looked into by the Tech Support Staff.
Could you just clarify item 3 Simple Chapter Editing
By this do you mean the creation of chapter points
In which case you have MovieFactory, VideoStudio, MediaStudio
or are you talking about editing the video itself - i.e. cutting pieces out etc - in which case you need VideoStudio/MediaStudio.

I'd like to be able to edit the chapters that were automatically created during transfer. (They can't all be winners!) By edit I mean selectively remove portions of the chapter, not just trim the beginning or end.
'Any known reason why preview disable is not allowed? Do they assume that all systems can handle preview without a glitch? I thought that disabling preview saved memory & made the program run faster.
