Hello all!
I just purchased a globe from Turbosquid in 3ds format. When I try to import into a new project I get told "Cannot load this file". I am able to import into Swift3D...but I'd rather use Cool 3D PS (Version 1.0.1)

Hi Steve,
Is the 3ds file a closed path? Please read the post by rwernyei

Hi Ron,
AI or vector type WMF files need to be closed path, but 3DS file does not need to.
It's possible some 3DS files will be imcompatible with C3DPS, you need some third party program to convert it so C3DPS can read it.
Try Deep Exploration:

Steve,
H.T. is correct. Some .3ds files I have downloaded in the past did not work with COOL3D PS upon import step. Workarounds were to use the suggested program Deep Exploration by Right Hemisphere or to use free utility Winconv3ds. Winconv3ds converts 3D models from .3ds to .x format (including texture information, hierachy and animation). Use its default settings to create your .x file. Now use COOL3D's import .x model command and select your newly created .x file. Check my tutorial for any additional info when it comes to importing models with or without texture.

Here's the Winconv3ds download link:

Hope this helps.
