Smart Compositor Templates - File not found error

Post by LeoNerd »

I just bought the new templates for $49.99. But when i install them, i cannot open any. I get the "unable to access file" , " File doesn't exist." But when i check, all the files are there and they open when i open them using windows media player. Has anyone seen this before? I am going to ask for a refund !

I've have been having the same problem with the smart
compositor in msp8. These are the templates in the original that
came with the smart compositor and not the extras for $49.99.
When I go to click "insert" and then "smart compositor" and then
choose one of the templates - I get "unable to access the
file" and then "file don't exists." I can see the files in
c:/programs/ulead/msp8/uct_plug and also in samples.
The templates S01-A,RO1-A,RO1-B,RO2-A, MO1-A,MO1-B,
and MO2-A are the ones that do not work and all the others
do work on my desktop. I have downloaded the service pack for msp8.
I experimented and have installed msp8 in my laptop and all the templates work in the smart compositor.
It just does not work on my desk top where I do all my video editing.
I have had flash animation problems in VS9 and VS10+ - it just a
black screen when I click the flash animations. Flash 8 does not work in my internet explorer version 6 also. I have downloaded numerous
times from macromedia. I don't know if these problems are
all related. Flash does work with netscape browser.
I was able to download Steve's 6 compositor templates - and they
are all working well. The "cirlces" template have not been able to download correctly. I am not an expert with computers, so I thought
I would give you all the info and maybe someone can sort this out.

I think i found the problem. Most of the .dvp files that come with the templates still have paths of the machine that were used to create them. I don't know how dump the producers of those project files were to think every computer has thesame file structure. To get them to work, you have to double click on each of the .dvp file and relink the files before it will work. More work for $49.99
Secondly the extra templates are not too great.. really a waste of money.

I'm presuming there is no easy way of doing this....

I know when I try to load up the smart compositor. The moment I select one of the "composites"? It tells me File not found.

I followed sjj1805's route with everything and that doesn't work as well. I did open up a specific composite and then relink everything and that worked but that is a lot of work.

Any other solutions?

Yes - submit a Tech Request form to Ulead. The more people that do the more chance we get of a fix appearing.

Ok, so I guess I'm not the only one who has this problem. I mean, it's not selective few.

I don't get it...

Steve J and All

I am one of the first to gripe when something doesn't work. So, I want to give credit when I can too. If this helps anyone.. I am running xp pro sp2. Ulead was installed as MSP8 clean install. Then the .0037 patch and finally the 0039 patch. Then I installed the new compositor files that they are selling. Everything works as should be. According to the about..I have MSP 8.10.0039.0
It was purchased as a download from ulead. Not a trial version.

Hope this helps some folks

Bill,
The problem I have is with our home made one's with the designer tool. Although it copies all the files used into a single directory it isn't linking to those (moved) files and still looks for them where they were located when created.

I havent bought the extra one's but would be surprised if they failed to work. We don't know if Ulead themselves use the same designer tool to create them or use other means.

If these Home Made smart compo's worked as intended, they would knock the oppositions software way off the playing field.
