VS 9 Slow to respond

Just switched back to VS 9 after an unsatisfactory trial with VS 10+.
I have uninstalled VS 10+ and re-installed VS 9.
VS 9 is working, but seems to 'lag'..... eg if I drag the slider along in the main preview window, there is a delay between where I stop the slider and to when the preview video catches up (its as though my computer is to slow, which is not the case, as I had been using VS 9 without a problem).
Another example is if in the same preview I repeatedly click the 'frame forward button' the program 'freezes' until the video preview catches up.

I have set up a Video Editor profile, as suggested by Steve and defraged the HD...............any help would be appreciated.

You can have VS9 and also VS10 both on your machine together, they do not clash. Your 512MB RAM might be low. Press the [ctrl] [alt] [del] keys together and check your memory usage.
