DV 4:3 capture problem

Post by stevemc »

I have several DV tapes that I am trying to capture into Videostudio. Tapes that were recorded in normal 4:3 ratio seem to capture fine, however some of the tapes were recorded using the cameras 'cinema' mode which basically recorded in 4:3 mode but put black bars at the top and bottom of the picture. When I try to capture these tapes, VideoStudio seems to squash the picture down, causing the picture to become stretched horizontally.

I would be grateful for any advice on this problem.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, however I have followed the tutorial and whatever settings you choose the result is still the same. It seems that when videostudio sees the black bars at the top and bottom of the picture it treats the capture as 16:9 and stretches the picture horizintally, which is what you want if it is a true 16:9 picture.

Hi

Try turning off ‘Perform non square pixel rendering’.---File-Project Properties-Edit

I am not sure if you should be using 16:9 or 4:3 at this stage.
Try both settings to see the result.

Remember to use ‘Perform non square pixel rendering’ for the rest of your good captures.
