White (or green) line

Post by dcampog »

I have a problem with an MPEG-2 file : when I watch it with any viewer, it looks fine, but when I open it with UVS8 I get a thin white line at the top of the image. This line remains when I burn a DVD with this file via USV8.

I have a similar problem, but in this case I get a green line on the right of the screen, with some tapes that I recorded some times ago.

Has anybody an idea where this may come from (I don't know whether they are 2 different problems or both part of the same problem) ?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

If it's from VHS or broadcast it's probably just overscan and is normal. It's not visible on a TV. Does it look like this, notice the black along the edges. If it's a brightly colored line that is perfect and covers the video it would be something different. Overscan generally is jaggedy. At any rate if it's just on the edges it won't be seen on a TV, to remove it you need to crop the video:

Thanks Coalman.

The frame that you show looks perfectly normal. Mine had really a white line at the top. I wanted to show you what it looks like but in the meantime I have updated the drivers of my Leadtek TV card and the problem seems to have dissappeared.
