Creating a professional stlye DVD?

Post by Peep Productions »

When I have created a DVD using VS8 and 9 I have had problems trying to make it look professional. It would usually play all the video clips on the DVD one after the other, unlike a real DVD you purchase where it plays the main video then it takes you back to the main menu to select what extra videos you want to watch etc.

I have recently upgraded to VS10 and MF4, I was wondering if this is possible on either of these products (not had time to try it out yet).

Also is it possible for features you can select e.g. Subtitles on the movie.

I can't answer all of the questions about MF & VS, except that they can't make subtitles.

I've been using DVD Workshop for DVD authoring, and it can do all of those things. You can link a button to a playlist that holds a sequence of events. this gives you almost total control!

The one thing that you cannot do, is stop playback before the end of a title. So, if your button links to chapter 2, it will start playing at chapter 2 and play through all remaining chapters to the end of that title. Then, control returns to the playlist, and the playlist might display a menu, start another title, play that title over... whatever.

The bad news is that Workshop has not updated for awhile, and there are things Movie Factory can do that Workshop cannot. :(
