"Target device may have problems"

I have tried twice to burn a lengthy DVD (1 hour or so). Both times it has come back with the same error message: "Target device may have problems. Please try again or reboot." Could this be related to my DVD recorder. It hasn't given me any problems in the past. Couldn't see why it would now. Don't understand this error. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for responding. I was using a Sony DVD-burner with DVD-R disks. I did some more research and found that the message about the Target device was accompanied with a message about the power calibration. Read about that and determined it was the burner and someone said that the connections could be loose. I toggled the connections and it started working again! yeah!!
