Using VS8'
File>Preference>Capture tab: Image capture deinterlace (box ticked or not)
Clip>change image / color duration. What’s the relevance of this? This is always grayed out in my PC

Hi
I would suggest that you tick this box to de-interlace, I think this is the default setting.
Afaik it is used if you capture a still image from the video in the timeline.
Clip Change Duration
If you insert some still images, they will default to a duration set in File-Preferences-Edit (F6).
If you wanted to change the duration of the clips in the timeline you can select the clips and use Clip-Change image/colour Duration.
