Hi Jack, and welcome to the forums..:)

By the looks of the Mod Ver: 9.0.0.0 you have not installed any patches or SPs for VS9 correct? The patched version should be 9.0.0.100. To download the SPs and any patches please go here:

http://www.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs_ftp.htm

Also please complete your system information in your profile. Do you have anything else running when you are trying to launch VS? If this results in having to do a re-install please read this post in our Tutorial Section:

hello vidoman, you seem to be jumping the gun, the poor soul can't even get VS to start up.

It seems to me that you have a faulty installation. Where did you get your copy from? Being VS 9, I suppose it came bundled with some hardware. I would completely uninstall the program, delete the installation folders created on your HDD (for all users, even the default User account if you are using WIN XP) and rid the registry of all things Ulead VideoStudio.

After that, reinstall the software but make sure you have no firewall and virus scanner running at time of installation. These programs could prevent vital registry changes during the installation phase.

Have a read of this topic first http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=8959 and then this http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=27

Please also complete your system information in your profile. This allows us to gauge the performance level of your machine and you wouldn't have to type it again if you were posting a new thread.

but what is going on behind those two windows you have shown us - there seems to be an endless number of windows behind them - many of them appear to have VideoStudio on them - and your desktop appears covered with icons to individual files - looks to me as though there is something very unusual about your setup and your not giving UVS a chance

I noticed all the instances of VS also. I count about 10. I don't think I could get 2 opened at once, without a crash.

i moved the detail window down so you can see both of them and at the time.. my computer somewhat does that when you move windows around. The background isnt my desktop it is my folder of VS9 i am running it from there.

EDIT: Thank you for the reply i will reinstall VS9 and apply the latest patch.
