Learning about Video Overlay Track

Post by VideoLab »

I am fairly newbie and only laid my hands on VS 7. After performing few basic editing jobs on my family trip video clips I am getting interested more and more in this fascinating world of video editing.

I have not used the Overlay track so far in any of my edited videos as I am not aware of the true utility value of it. :?

Could someone educate me on the usage of Overlay Track through few tutorials or direct me to examples which may be available on the forum.

My system Config:
OS - Win XP
CPU - PIV
Mem - 1 GB
HDD - 40 GB

videolab,
I think you can create picture in picture effect using a overlay. or you can add a frame over your video using overlay. I don't know whether you can reshape the overlay track in version 7 but in version 8, you drag a video to the overlay track, clip on the filter and motion tab on the left panel, then click on the preview window to re-shape it.

you can also apply filters to the overlay track or make it look transparent.

Have you looked through some of the tutorials found in our Tutorials Section? I noticed in your sig, that you also have the trial version of VS9? Where did you manage to get a VS9 Trial version now?

Titles, superimposed on a running video clip can also be done in the overlay track.

Have a good read of the manual and the help files. If you dont have a manual, you can download one here http://www.ulead.com/vs/documents.htm

Please also note, support for VS 7 is phased out. We are on version 10 right now. If your version is a SE/VE or other bundled (with hardware) version, it may be worthwhile considering the purchase of an upgrade.

Learning about Overlay Track

No words to express my thanks to shredding, vidoman, heinz-oz & sjj1805. :D

I checked the Tutorials as suggested by Vidoman and there are huge study materials for a newbie like me.

Vidoman wanted to know the source of my VS 9 Trials version.
I got it from a friend who is a graphic designer and had the trial version burnt on a CD.

I have also downloaded the manuals as suggested by heinz-oz.

I have also checked the tutorials as suggested by sjj1805.

Need to do a lot of reading to grasp so much of materials. :?
