Sony HDR-HC1 and MSP

Post by tonyroberts »

I currently use MSP7 and VS10 plus, but have just bought a Sony HDR-HC1. Despite the fact that the HC1 image appears on the promotional webpages for HDV editing on MSP8, I do not seem to be able to export to camcorder edited HDV streams. In smaller print the HC1 is not a "supported" Sony camcorder but the FX1 and V1 are. Does anyone know if I can export either MSP8 or VS10plus HDV files to the HC1.

I use MSP8 to export may footage to my HC1 all the time.
This link will help you out with the workflow. Even though the HC1 isn't listed, it works.

Hi tyamada and tonyroberts !

Are you satisfied with this camera?
I think to buy this camera next time - is it worth it?
Is there a big good or bad point to say?
How much did you pay for it?
Is there anywhere a meaningful test on the web?

thanks in advance

Thanks Tyamada. I will try again with more attention to detail. It is good to know that it can be done, but as you say it is not listed.
Walter I have only had the HC1 for 2 weeks but am delighted with it so far save this rather annoying issue. I bought in UK so probably paid more than US figures. But I was told that a US NTSC version ie the HC1 may malfunction at 50 Hz as in Europe not 60 in US. I have a HC1E E for Europe I believe. It cost £950 about $1650. Still pleased though. It is not a toy- serious bit of kit, but small.

Walter:

I too love the HC1, has a problem with low light. I paid about $1700.00 US for it. You can buy them now for around $1100-$1300 due to the fact that is discontinued in favor of the HC-3. If you want a review just Google for tests.

Just to let you know that I managed to export HDV to the HC1 using MSP8. It was my lack of attention to detail. I assumed that a 1080i/50 MPEG was exportable, but of course it needs to be a MPEG transport stream. Once you know it is easy. Thanks again
