Aspect ratio

I'm recording TV using Media Center Edition and trying to create a DVD. The recording started early and was in 16:9, but the film I want is in 4:3. My TV is 4:3.

When I cut out all the stuff I want, VideoStudio seems to leave the video in 16:9, squashing the video down. I fiddle with the project aspect ratio to try to get it to 4:3 but it doesn' seem to make any difference.

Any idea how I get it to 4:3?

Cheers - I'll give that a try. I tried just setting the project properties, and it took the squished 16:9 picture and then squished it in at the sides - so I had a 4:3 screen, surrounded by a big balck border! Aspect ratios are just rubbish!
