so heres the problem...
I have the Ulead VideoStudio 9.0 that came with my Samsung camcorder
and iv already loaded videos on to this program that have come from my digital camera, and everything works out nicely...the audio and everything
but then when i load the videos from my camcorder, the audio works when im about to import it by going to the 'Capture'-'Import from DAD/DVD-VR' and im watching it before I import...but then when I actually import it the sound is gone.
iv already checked out all the troubleshooting tips and such, and nothing helps. It looks like the program knows theres audio there, its just not playing...
...any thoughts?

Hi Bailey, and welcome to the forums..
Your version of VS9 is probably VS9 SE correct? If so this is a free version, and would not include the Dolby, AC3 codec. Dolby requires a license fee to use their technology. So most all trial programs will not have the ability to encode Dolby audio. Does the DVDs you are importing have the audio recorded in Dolby AC3 or Dolby 5.1 ? If so that's why you can not hear it when you import the video into VS9.

I am sure Ron is correct -- though it sounds as though Samsung would be cruel to include such a crippled version with a camera which records in Dolby sound! You might want to experiment, though, with a free AC-3 filter which can be found here http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=AC3_Filter Earlier versions of this filter at least allowed you to import Dolby audio, but you had to convert it another format (LPCM or mpeg audio) for output. However, I see that this filter has now been totally rewritten and will apparently also allow output in real time for AC-3 SPDIF encoding.
