Crash when adding videos in edit mode

Post by someguy25 »

yesterday the program was working perfect. But today I wanted to make a dvd and for some reason the program crashes when i add video files. The videos are mpg2. can someone tell me what can be causing this?

The videos are mpg2.
All of my crashes (and other weird problems) have been caused by bad MPEGs. It took me forever to figure that out, because a corrupt MPEG can play OK, but cause problems when it's re-coded or re-multiplexed.

Where did your MPEGs come from? Did you edit them in MPEG format?

the mpegs are good, they are from my captured card. I just cut them into pieces with MPEG2Cut which does not reencode. I didnt have this problem yesterday when i added the same videos.

If this didn't happen yesterday when you added the same videos then try rebooting your computer.

Otherwise what has changed since yesterday. Have you installed/uninstalled anything? Had any power cuts?
have you attached or detached any hardware?

What has changed since yesterday?

the only thing that has changed is my hard drive space, yesterday i had 25 gigs left, today i have 5 gigs left. I guessing it must be the virtual memory.

Did you ever resolve this? I have the same problem. My DVD workshop used to work flawlessly. Now it crashes each time I import a video in edit mode. It seems to be very slow in everything it does. I have installed available Windows updates but nothing else that I can think of.
