Remove Voice Overs

Post by weebilko »

I capture & edit films, programs etc from TV before burning to DVD using UVS9 and wonder if any anyone can recommend software that would allow me to remove those annoying studio voice overs from the theme music at the start and/or the end of some programs announcing what is coming on next.

I have searched the forum for info but didn't seem to find anything but I am sure the question has been asked before.

Hi

Using Video Studio you can mute the audio.

Use the scissors to cut the main video clip into sections where you wish to remove sound. Then mute the audio from the clip. This will of course mute all audio within the clip, add some background sound if needed.
Or
Use the rubber banding to reduce a section of audio not required then add additional sound.

The voice overs are part of the main transmitted audio. You would need access to the clean audio of the outgoing show in order to lose them. The only thing I could suggest would be to see if one show in the series didn't have a VO on the end of it and you could replace the existing audio with that one. Also, is the opening theme music the same as the end music? If so, use that.

Thanks Trevor and TDK1044 for your sugestions and yes I have and do already use some of these ideas such as muting that part of the audio and copying and inserting other parts of the 'theme' but sometimes the VO lasts for 20 secs.

I wondered if anyone had experience of a program such as AV Music Morpher Gold 3.0 and could this be sucessfully used to extract the VO?

Because the VO is already mixed with the main audio and you only have access to one mixed track, any software you use will manipulate both the VO and the music. You either have to edit the existing music that doesn't have the VO on it, or hope that on at least one occassion the TV station won't do a voice over at the end of the show. Maybe they do the VO at different points in the music each week, and by taking three or four versions of the end music you could create one clean track?
