DVS Plays Slow

Post by jvsButler »

I created a DVD that plays fine on my computer in windows media player, but plays slow in a DVD player (8:18 video takes 13:12) with distorted sound because of the slowness. What might cause this?

I have an old version of VideoStudio (7 SE DVD) that came with my video camera. I applied the patch I found on the Ulead site and tried to use the recommended procedure I found in this forum (couldn't follow exactly because of different version of software).

Captured as AVI and then converted to Mpeg before burning DVD. Properties of the MPG file (viewed in Video Studio) says 29.97 fps and 14947 frames. Computer is 1.8 GHZ w/ 512 MB RAM Windows XP. Used USB 2.0 connection to connect camera to computer.

Thanks,
John

Nevermind! I finally figured out how to search for "DVD and SLOW" correctly (was entering terms in the author search field) and found that there are previous posts with info to help me. I didn't know there was a difference between DVD and CD media. I assume that is my problem and will pursue doing the burn step correctly on the correct media.

If your burnt DVD plays fine on the computer and you avoided using MPEG audio and used LPCM audio (VS7 doesn't have Dolby Digital 5.1) then you have an issue with the speed setting on your stand alone DVD player.

I think, rather, that he did not burn a DVD as such, but used DVD settings and a CD blank. As we all know, these sorts of hybrid 'dvds' usually don't work, at least on the majority of stand-alone players...

Hi Ken,

Yeah, at the time I was writing my reply, jvs was writing his own solution which wasn't there when I constructed my reply.

Sorry Terry -- I hadn't noticed the absolutely identical time at which your and the other postings were made!
