Download vs Boxed Version
So I came to this forum to find out if I could get by purchasing a download version and get all content or if I should purchase a boxed version. Think I might have the answer. but then again I wonder if I should purchase the product at all?
I downloaded the trial version on a different computer and it works great but doesn't have a lot of choices for menu screens, etc. Will I get more if I purchase?
Thanks for your input...

The Trial Version has very limited sample content there is far more when you purchase. Technically there should be no difference between the download version compared to the boxed version.
The box version obviously has everything included on a CD but the first thing you need to do with a download version is preserve it on a CD plus you normally get a manual with a boxed version. You can download the manual in PDF format.
Previous download versions did not include a repair option but the boxed did.
This appears to have been changed with Version 10+ as my downloaded copy includes a repair option.

I hope I am not asking an obvious question here ... I have VS10 installed on my desktop machine at home. This week I am on the road and installed VS10 on my laptop. On my machine at home, all of the Album, Mask, and Flashback transitions are installed in VS10. In my laptop install they are not there (to my suprise).
Now the thing is, I do not remember installing these as an extra into VS10, or transferring them (on my desktop machine) from VS9. So how did they get into VS10?
Are these extra transitions in the extra content pack? Or did I transfer them from VS9 and I just dont remember?

Greetings,
I recently purchased a used copy of VideoStudio 10+ from some bloke. I should have known better because while I only paid $40 for it, I'm now starting to think that I paid too much as the second disc that came with it, which is supposed to have some "extra content" and some "bonus" files, appears to be damaged as I can't even browse it.
Anyway, the guy I paid my money to isn't getting back to me and neither are Ulead responding to my "how do I get the stuff that's on the second CD?" question. Having spent a fair bit of time over the last week lurking in these forums, I managed to establish that Ulead have an FTP site at "ftpph.ulead.com" which, amongst other things, contained a couple of very large files "uvs10_contentpack_(e).exe" and "uvs10_bonus_e.exe", which I assumed were the "extra content" and "bonus" that would normally be on the second CD.
After spending a lot of hours downloading "uvs10_contentpack_(e).exe" (300MB), I then discovered that it appears to be damaged and won't extract any files. So, as you can see, the lesson here is NOT to buy used and sometimes trying to save money only ends up costing you more. I now notice what I didn't notice before, that others are having trouble downloading the file and that Ulead appear to be doing absolutely nothing about it.
What do you good people suggest I do next? Buy another copy from Ulead? The first CD installed fine and I've been tinkering with the software over the last couple of weeks and although I've only been playing with the editor, I assume authoring and burning should work as well. But I'm just wandering what "extra stuff" I'm missing and how to get my hands on it, since Ulead don't provide it on it's own.

You might try using a CD/DVD cleaning solution on the 2nd Disc. Sometimes doing that may help access it. I have had a disc or two that I had problems with the player reading, due to a fingerprint or small scratches. I used a disc solution to clean it, and then the computer was able to read it so I could get my data off it. These can be picked at computer shops, or even Wal-Mart.
With the ESD files, I don't know when Ulead (now Intervideo) is going to act on this. I have even submitted a request to Ulead to address this.

I realise you have paid hard earned money in good faith but I wouldn't be surprised if you've been ripped off and given some pirated copy.
Compare the surface of the disc with a disc that you know to be genuine.
It should have a shiny silver surface with no 'burn' area such as those when you make CD/DVD of your own.
These software pirates can make fakes look almost indistinguishable from the real thing with laser printing onto the surface of the disk and genuine looking wrapping.
Have you tried to register your software on the Ulead Website

If the serial number has already ben used by someone else you won't be able to register.

I received the following response from Ulead Customer Care after submitting a complaint to them regarding the reported corrupt ESD files.
Ron P.Thank you very much, Ron. I shall inform the Management of this situation and check if it really is defective/corrupted.
