How to delete thumbnails?

Post by t_j_bates »

Before starting a new project, I would like to delete the old thumbnails from the previous project. How do I do this without having to delete them one by one?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Click on the first thumbnail, tell UVS not to relink the clip if the message comes up. Shift-click on the last thumbnail (standard Windows convention) to highlight all the thumbnails between the click and the shift-click location, and press Delete to delete the thumbnails, or Shift-Delete to delete the thumbnails and the clips they represent.

Highlight the first of the thumbnails you want to delete, press the Shift button and with that still pressed, click on the last thumnail you want to delete. All the thumbnails in between should now be highlighted. Hit Delete. Note that if you want also to delete the original files as well as the thumbnails, and you have either VS9 or 10, press the Shift button again when you click on Delete. VS8 and earlier versions automatically will delete the original files unless you press 'No' when asked after you press Delete.

But I assume you are aware that you can create a variety of libraries for different projects and store your thumbnails in them. That way, when you start a new project, you can also start a new -- and empty -- library (Tools > Library Manager > New). I do this and leave my existing libraries alone until I know everything is really finished and I will not need them any more.
