I use Photoshop-CS at work (sigh...) but as that is not in my financial range, I have bought PI 11 to use for my own work at home as I refuse to work with imaging software that will not let me work with layers. Overall, I rather like it, but I am having trouble finding ways to duplicate some of Photoshop's effects.
Chief amonst these is an 'outer glow' or 'outline glow' which can be applied to layers in PS-CS. I have tried to apply shadow to layers such as text in PI 11, but it is not quite the same. It seems silly that there shouldn't be something similar available in PI 11, but I can't find it.
Is this available in PI 11, or is there a plug in I could purchase? Any help appreciated.

I would suggest the free beginners workshop available here http://www.pircnet.com/. it will teach you a lot more about PI than you could possibly imagine.
