Hi all. Listen, I'm sorry I have to take space to post this question since I'm sure its been asked before. I even asked about this but remained confused with the answers. I did search and check the Ulead website, but neither specifically answer my concerns. The feature list seems to omit these features but I'm not sure if they really are not available.
I wonder if I could list my specific feature concerns if someone could tell me if they are available.
I currently use DVD Workshop2 I love it. I had a very good friend ask about an authoring program and I simply can't advise based on what the Ulead site lists for features. Movie Factory 5 is so much less expensive, but I'm sure my friend would want some of these things. Here are my wonders...
split by scene captures? Can Movie Factory 5 do this?
sub menu creations? Can sub, and sub-sub menus be created?
playlist options? Can end actions be specified?
First Play? Is there the ability to have a first play video?
Any other shortcomings from DVD Workshop?
Thank you all very much for indulging and helping. I really hate to download the trial and add it to existing software on my system to experiment. THANK YOU!

split by scene captures? Can Movie Factory 5 do this?
Yes. In fact there is currently a known issue with attempting to capture without splitting by scene resulting in the program splitting a capture up into 4GB chunks. Tech support are aware and investigating.
if anyone has managed to capture without this happening please update the following link: http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=14614
So that I may inform Tech support.
sub menu creations? Can sub, and sub-sub menus be created?
Yes. you do this in a similar manner to the following VideoStudio tutorial:
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 9591#69591
playlist options? Can end actions be specified?
Yes and No.
You cannot create playlists in the manner that can be done with DVD Workshop. You do have an option to specify:
Yes.
Any other shortcomings from DVD Workshop?
This depends upon what you wish to achieve. DVD Workshop is now getting a little old and is in need of a service pack or a new version
There are things that exist in MovieFactory 5 / VideoStudio 10 that do not exist in DVD Workshop such as Dolby 5.1, Widescreen and SmartMenus.
Conversely there is a lot in DVD Workshop that cannot be done in MF5 / VS10 such as building a DVD Menu from a blank screen, playlists, subtitle tracks, extra audio tracks.
The only proper answer that can be given is to advise that you download the trial versions.

Are you sure? Sub-sub menus? It looks to me like DVDMF (4, at least) only allows two levels of menus, title and chapter. (Or has that been increased in DVDMF5?sjj1805 wrote:sub menu creations? Can sub, and sub-sub menus be created?
