VS10 - User permissions/freezing on render

Post by ZeroHour »

Hi
I have a copy of VS10 running on:
XP Pro SP1 (does it really REALLY need sp2?)
256mb (soon to be upgraded)
1.4GHz P4 M
40GB HD
The user that runs the program has "User" privileges. Also the C drive is protected and hidden using group policies.

The problem:
When I create a video from camera using the full suite it captures and sets up the video (aka overlays etc) but when I build the DVD and get it to the point where its converting the video, it freezes. The elapsed time still goes up but the percentage complete never increments including the counter for the percentage for the convert.
This happens regardless of the type of "burn" I use. It has once got to 4% but it froze then too.
4% of the convert should be around the time when the first title text is added if that gives anyone any ideas.

Tried:
giving the user full control/write of the ulead dir in program files.
the various "burn" options to see if any work.

Also on a side note I was wondering if Ulead had a list of files written to/modified while a admin user runs the program so I can replicate the permissions for the limited account?

Cheers for all your help

I would make a couple of points. Firstly, in all honesty, your computer is barely powerful enough to run VS10. I know there will be somebody who says "I've been running VS10 on a P3 600mhz with 256MB of Ram since world war 2 and it works fine" but you really need to upgrade your computer in order to use this software effectively. Secondly, do you have either Nero or Roxio burning software installed on your computer? The symptoms you describe are classic signs of a system conflict with another application.
