I overlaid an animated title on my video using drop effect. How do I fade this title in and out?

Hi

You can only use one animation on each title.

By selecting the type Drop, Fade, Fly etc you can select a different effect.

Select Fade, use one of the presets or press the two ‘TT’s for additional options.

Hi shredding

I do not think your question is the same as tbag’s, which is related to titles.

The Overlay Track

You cannot use the transition effects from the library in the overlay track.

Although there is a ‘fade in / out’ and a ‘Direction’ that can be applied.
After clicking the clip in the overlay track, you will find the animation buttons somewhere to the left of the preview screen. Sorry I cannot be more specific, I do not have VS 8 installed.

Shredding,

In VS8 to do a transition, click on the Motion and Filter Tab. Then choose one of the Presets in the Direction and Style pull down menu. There are several presets, one being, Static with Cross-Fade.

Also if you choose the Static with Cross-Fade and apply a border, then beware that the border does not cross-fade. It appears then the video or image fades in and out.

Hi Trevor,
Does this mean I can't use the Crossfade F/X on an animated (drop) title?

Thanx,

Hi

Yes

The Effects-Transitions-from the library cannot be used when making a Title.

The titles have their own ‘Animations’

You could create two or three identical titles, make the first using Drop, Drag this to the library to make a copy, drag it back to the end of the first clip and change the duration and animation to Fade Out.

If you use Character for the Drop Option you could make a start title using Fade In on the FIRST character only.

Otherwise:-
As an idea, you could make a title with Drop and render to a video file, then use the video file in the video track or overlay track, But this may create further problems with the background? The main track will allow you to use transitions.
