I recently saved a project which was less than 4GB.
When I opened it to continue working on it, the size was stated as 19GB!!
I tried deleting the individual elements from the project and reloading them, but I got the same error.
What would cause this?
Project size overstated when opening a saved project

I had burned a project on a standalone burner and ripped the files (5 segments for a total of 3hr 42mins 28 secs) so that I could re-author it using MF3. No changes were made from the time I saved the project until I reopened it.
In fact I just re-did the project and burned it with no problems. However When I reopened the project, the DVD bar at the bottom says:
19.54 (18.20) GB/ 3hr 42mins 28secs
When I right click on the clip, the data rate is listed as "Variable bit rate (9586 kbps)". The total time and size of the clip are both correct.

Does it have to reencode the clip to burn? possibly you ripped it into different bitrate.... I really don't know that's just weird. What's the file size if get the properties from windows in my computer?
It works though doesn't it? Id just ignore.
I'm guessing something happened to screw it up, your not using the exact fles from the original project?

I ripped the files off the DVD using TMPGEnc using its "Copy DVD File" method. This puts the file in an MPEG format onto the hard drive.
When I add these files to MFM3 to create a new DVD, everything is fine. I could just burn a DVD right then and there. However, if I save the project for burning at a later time and reopen it, the size has tripled.
When I created the MFM3 project, I just loaded the files to be burned, but went no further than that.
If I delete the files to be burned and reload them, the same problem occurs.
This is very baffling.
