Does Ulead make anything comparable to adobe after effects? If not, is after effects compatible with video studio? or is it a separate program that I would take an edited MPEG into? I really don't know much about it, I just have heard good things. Thanks for any help.

Sorry -- I hadn't answered your query in the hope that someone else might have a suggestion. I personally don't know of any product which does quite the same job as After Effects. Earlier versions of Ulead's Media Studio Pro had a module which did a lot of the same sort of job, but this module was split off after MSP Pro 7.5, and is now marketed as a separate program called Video and Graphics Lab or something like that. And I suspect this was done precisely to make it a specific competitor to After Effects. But I have not bought it so cannot comment on whether it has taken on any more functions than it originally had.
So all I can comment on really is After Effects. Be prepared for the usual Adobe premium price, though, as well as that learning curve...

Ken is correct that the old Ulead Video Paint and CG Infinity that was included with MSP 7, is now a stand-alone application called Video Graphics Lab. I didn't have MSP7 full that had those included, so I'm not sure if there were any changes, however I do have VGL, and I don't think there is any difference.
I still haven't messed around with it much. For a good explanation read this post by Jerry Jones. http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 9725#69725

Never tried it but I am sure that if I mention it someone who has will chip in and explain it all to us.
There is something called a Framserver
Which if I understand it correctly allows you to treat more than one video editing program as though it was one larger program.
Before getting excited though, I think it may be a little complex to use or set up.
Anyone care to elaborate?

Well, I have the full version MSP 7.3 but have as yet not used Video Paint or CGI infinity. Neither did I have a look at Adobe AE
I have used a frameserver though. After the new ULEAD Burn. Now mpeg encoder was released with MSP 7, there was no need anymore for me to use the frame server to get good mpeg encoding. The mpeg encoder that came with MSP 6.5 was inferior and did not allow for dual pass encoding if I remember correctly.
The frameserver program did not allow for anything like the VP or CGI modules in MSP 7 or the new VL for that matter.
