ts files supported in Video Studio 8 but not VS9 or 10

Post by Simon101 »

I have a Humax 9200 PVR and can transfer video files from it to my pc via USB. These files are .ts extensions. I understand that they are just straight captures of the freeview broadcast signal (in the UK) without any processing.

If I rename the files to .mpg I can usually import them successfully to VS8 but in VS9 and VS10 it says 'File Format Mismatch.'

I thought Video Studio 10 supported digital video broadcast files. Does anyone know of any plug-in that could work? I have some work arounds (VLC player just to play files on the pc, and Project X to process the file first if I then wanted to edit it or back it up to DVD), but I would like to see an application like Video Studio handle these files on its own.

Video Studio 8 is not perfect either as it sometimes chooses the wrong audio track and so I either have silence or a commentary for the blind. There seems to be now way of changing the track that it finds.

Any suggestions or information would be very welcome. Thanks.

Simon,
Try http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=HDTVtoMPEG2. I have not tried this myself but have seen several posts that say it works well to strip out the Transport stream (.ts / .m2t) baggage.

BTW, upgrade VS8 to 10+ because 8 has/had chronic audio/video synch problems.

Also, did VS8 come with the Humax box? If so, it may have been optimised to work with the box, while later versions have not been.
