I'm a layman using DVD MovieFactory 2 for the first time and I'm having problems capturing the footage from an old analogue camera to DVD format. Every time I try to capture the footage, I get the error "V129 invalid video aspect ratio" - I know this error has come up on these boards before, but I was unable to find a fix for the problem using the search function.
Further, if I capture the video to avi or mpg or anything else, there's horrible antialiasing problems with the video itself - it doesn't look nearly as clean as connecting the camera directly through to a TV. The camera is an old Sanyo PS12 using 8mm tape connected via the yellow/white/red connections for PAL.
My PC is a Pentium 2.8ghz with 512mb ram and 80gb hdd which is mostly free running Windows XP Pro. Any ideas on how to fix these problems?
Will not capture DVD video file and antialiasing problems

Hi,
If you want to create video for viewing on a PC, you'll probably want to convert it to frame-based video.
Or use a player program (like a DVD player) that handles field-based video correctly. Otherwise you'll see the scene movement between those 2 fields in 1 frame (those jagged edges).
I'm just guessing, but MF2 may not support converting your selected capture signal directly to DVD on the fly, maybe due to the chosen resolution of the capture hardware.
Well, at least this is normal and not a problem. One of the first things you learn when working with video is that such material is field-based interlaced video, which is designed for TV. TV displays the 1st field followed by 2nd.it doesn't look nearly as clean as connecting the camera directly through to a TV

In this case, is it best to try another version of MF that can do this, or can I change the resolution of the capture hardware somehow? I'm using DVD EZMaker USB2.0..snoops wrote:I'm just guessing, but MF2 may not support converting your selected capture signal directly to DVD on the fly, maybe due to the chosen resolution of the capture hardware.
