Capture Video and Images in 640x480

Post by cgheilman »

I bought a Plextor ConvertX PX-M402U which came with Video Studio 8SE, and the software seems to be working very well so far, I just have one thing I'd like to change.

Right now, the video is at 720x480 and I would like to get it to 640x480 in my captured images and videos. I go to file, project properties and change it from MPEG to Microsoft AVI, which captures in 640x480, but when I click ok and capture, it is still in 720x480.

Is there something I'm missing? I'd appreciate any help anybody has!

Thanks!

Sorry, here's the correct forum.

Nature of the problem: In Ulead VIdeo Studio 8SE, I want to resize all video and pictures to 640x480, but when I go to file project properties, select my preference that's 640x480 and click ok, it still captures and takes stills in 720x480.

Properties of your source files: ??

What devices are involved and their mode of connection?: Plaxtor ConvertX PX-M402U

Project Settings: MPEG, 640x480 29.97fps

Output format MPEG

PAL or NTSC: NTSC

Error Codes (if any): None

From my search the plextor doesn't appear to support 640x480.

Why do you want this size?

I would like this size because I have a square monitor that I will play them on and I would like it to fill up the whole screen. It's just a minor thing I thought I'd ask about. If it's possible, I'd like it.

The reason I think it can support 640x480 is when in fullscreen, it takes up the whole screen but doesn't do that when it's been recorded.

In which case I'd capture at the best resolution you can and then down convert to 640x480. I'm not sure if VS can do this, but you can in many apps, windows media encoder would do it.

maddrummer3301 wrote:In the capturing screen click on the down arrow to display more selectable settings.
the Format box says DVD change that setting to MPEG.
Then under "Options" -> "Video & Audio Capturing properties you can set the avialable mpeg2 settings.
It should be under the Capture Tab -> Frame Size.
Then click on advanced to change other relevant settings you want.
Also if the Format is set to DVD under the Capture TAB changing that to Customize will change the encoder to mpeg and allow other than dvd compliant settings.

You may/may not have llimitations using the SE version.

hope this helps,

This worked correctly! Thanks a TON for this! :)
