Serious problems with HDV Smartrendering

Post by PredatorGER »

Hi,
when i capture HDV video from my Sony HC3 it works perfectly.
Then when I open the .mpg file in Video Editor and rerender it to hdv .mpg (Programm Stream) it also works perfectly. It takes just a few seconds and I think that´s native without recompression.

BUT when I open an .mpg HDV file and render it as .m2t (Transportstream) it takes 4 times the video length. It renders frame by frame and I don´t think that´s smartrendering. It seems the video is recompressed and that is what I want to prevent.

What setting do I have to set that Medistudio smartrenders the programm stream into a transport stream?
Or is it usual, that it takes almost two minutes to render an .m2t file out of a HDV .mpg file with the length of 30 seconds?

My Hardware:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1 GB Memory
IDE Harddisc
Geforce 6800GT

BTW: Sorry, for my poor English. I´m from Germany.

What you are doing when you are creating a m2t file to record back to the camera is putting back some of the packet information that MSP took out of the mpg when it captured the video, hence the long rendering time.

MSP won't smart render when it is creating a m2t file.

Thanks for the information.

So that´s the way it is? I´m not doing anything wrong?

One more question: I bought Mediastudio 8 because the website told me I can edit my HDV material natively without losing quality?
I mean the .mpg -> .m2t step.
Doesn´t this cost quality?

I haven't lost quality, but MSP8 doesn't capture natively, if it did you would get a .m2t capture file. If you have software that captures in .m2t format MSP8 will not edit the file, it has to be converted to .mpg(strip out the transport stream packets).

If you have a computer that has a processer 3.0GH or above trun off proxy support, it takes longer to create the proxy file than to edit and create a HD file.

Alright. Thank you very much for helping.

I tried to edit with and without proxy, but it´s never really smooth.
But I´ll upgrade to this new Intel CPU "Conroe" anyway in july, so that should be enough power. :D
