DVDMF5 Some Tracks Have Audio .. Some Don't

Post by dblml320 »

I am working on a DVD project with 20 tracks. Each track was recorded the same way, with the same audio parameters (NTSC DV 4:3, Lower Field First, PCM Audio 48Khz 16bit .. Standard VS10 Video Profile) in Ulead VS10.

I layed out the clips in several menus, and overnight burned a DVD of the project.

When I play the DVD, roughly every other clip does not have sound. It is not exactly every other clip .. but there seems to be no pattern of which clips don't have audio, and which do.

I searched through the forum and saw nothing on this, so I am wondering if anyone besides me has seen this problem.

I experienced some similar problems when I had activated the option "Normalize Audio". Some of the tracks where okay, some didn't have audio. After deactivating the normalization all went fine.

Analyzing an affected track I heard a loud "click" at the very beginning of the track. After cutting the first second of the track the normalizing was processed correctly.

Maybe that helps

Hi Leo,

Thanks very much for your reply. I didn't think I had the normalize switch checked, but I will verify that.

One thing I think may be contributing to this is that all my project clips are AVIwith 48KHZ PCM Audio. Next time I render them with VS10 I am going to switch to an MPEG2 DVD profile with AC-3 audio and see if that improves the outcome.

Otherwise I need to be thinking about another DVD production package. I tried Ulead DVD Workshop, but it is to slow and way too buggy.

I think it is time to bite the bullet and step up to DVD-LAB Pro. It seems to have the best bang for the buck.
