Screen Capture In My PhotoImpact 11 Fixed
When I attempt to use the SCREEN CAPTURE feature, I see a message that says "LOADING SCREEN CAPTURE COMPONENT" and then NOTHING HAPPENS.
Anybody else experience this problem?

If you select File->Screen Capture->Start then that means you are ready to capture. Press the hotkey will capture the screen into PhotoImpact.
Default capture hotkey is F11.
To change the capture hotkey, you can select File->Screen Capture->Setup.
Nice to see you, Jerry.

Hi H.T.,
I think Jerry is having problems just getting the Screencapture to launch. By his post, it seems to get stuck while trying to open, so that changing the settings or doing anything is is not possible.
That's what I'm reading.. I tried mine after reading his post and it seems to work on my system anyway...

Thanks all.
I just resolved the problem by uninstalling Ulead PhotoImpact 11 and then reinstalling the program.
Now the SCREEN CAPTURE menu launches.
I guess it didn't install properly the first time.
Windows... gotta love it.

PI 11 has been known to need frequent re-installing by other users also.Jerry Jones wrote:Thanks all.

Not sure if we can blame this one on Windows

While the SCREEN CAPTURE is now working, I can't find my DVD MENU TEMPLATES in Ulead PhotoImpact 11 following the re-install.
In addiition, the PhotoImpact 6 WEB TEMPLATES appeared - then disappeared.
Strange.

Got my DVD templates back.
Apparently, under MY WORKSPACE, I had to choose ADVANCED.
That did the trick.
The PI 6 Web templates appeared - then disappeared.
They seemed to be unstable - and they're old - so I don't care so much about them being gone.

Decided to keep trying to regain the PI6 WEB TEMPLATES.
Here's a tip.
They reside here:
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead PhotoImpact 11\Ulead.dat\newgallery\PI6WebPage
To get them to load into PhotoImpact 11, I did the following:
1. I opened Ulead PhotoImpact 11;
2. I clicked the OBJECT LIBRARIES icon at the top of the EasyPallete;
3. I clicked OBJECT LIBRARIES MANAGER > LOAD and then I observe a new pop-up menu called IMPORT OBJECT LIBRARY;
4. I browsed to the PIWebPage folder and I highlighted the PI6WebTemplates.UOL (Ulead Object Library) file;
5. I clicked OPEN.
The PI6 WEB TEMPLATES now load into Ulead PhotoImpact 11.
When I attempt to open some of the PI6 WEB TEMPLATES in Ulead PhotoImpact 11, they open without problems.
When I attempt to open others, the entire program crashes.

I closed Ulead PhotoImpact 11.
I re-booted the computer.
I opened Ulead PhotoImpact 11.
Now many of the PI6 WEB TEMPLATES load without crashing the program.
Those that *do* crash the program can later be opened successfully after Ulead PhotoImpact is re-initialized.
In other words, ***sometimes*** they crash the program and ***sometimes*** they don't!
When attempting to open certain templates, the program now crashes **sometimes** but not always.
Inevitably, the program finally regains stability and all of the templates eventually open without crashing the program.
So CRASHING is only a periodic bother now as I always get the program to finally open all of the templates after trying a second or third time.
It seems to help when I first open the less problematic .UFO template files BEFORE attempting to open the problematic .UFO template files.
This behavior is kind of annoying as I upgraded to PhotoImpact 11 from "XL" - hoping for better stability because "XL" constantly crashed on my system.
Stability and features are improved, but I think Ulead needs to examine some of the messages I sent to Microsoft (crash error messages).
They seem to suggest some instability in Ulead PhotoImpact 11 on certain computer systems.
Perhaps AMD processors are a factor; I don't know.
I'm not an engineer.
I hope Ulead looks into this.
By the way, I've applied the latest patch.

I've found the same thing with the PI6 templates Jerry.. I also am using an AMD processor, however on a HP desktop. I don't know if I currently have them installed though. After the crashing when trying to open one, I gave up on the PI6 ones. I'll have to try your workaround...

Jerry,
You are correct about the incompatibility of AMD CPU's. It appears that matched with certain motherboard drivers AMD will not process the MMX instructions to specifications. For whatever reason Ulead seems to be affected more than other programs. Several others are Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, and other graphic editors, often they are version specific and system specific. Unlike Photoshop, where you can disable the MMX core module, Ulead does not have such a feature.
I have found that installing Ulead and the other graphic editors on an Intel system, the crashes stop.

After Ulead let my consulting contract expire in 2004, I had to find a new job and I couldn't afford to spend too much time here.sjj1805 wrote:Jerry,
