Error Message: Failed to reuse converted cache file 4570

Post by leocat »

I've burned numerous projects on my computer with Video Studio 9 without any problems.

I Just receved the above captioned message about two minutes into burning a DVD containing 3 MPG clips I created in VS9

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I've had this same problem all day but I just managed to fix it. What was causing my problem was having an audio track on the menu of my project. I took that off and it now works fine. It's a pity cos I wanted some music on the menu but it wasn't worth the hassle in the end.

And lots of us use music all the time with the menu, without such a problem.

I am not sure what might be causing this particular problem. But my instinct with things to do with caches is to close VS, then go to C:\Documents and Settings\[My Name]\Local Settings\Temp and wipe out as many of the files there as it will let you. Then reboot the computer, go back to this folder, and wipe out anything else that might be there. Then restart your VS project and see if that works...

After using Videostudio 9 succesfully for last 12 months I have now got this same problem - I can't burn anthing at all...

Tried uninstalling/reinstalling, cleaning up/deleting all temp files as mentioned above but I can't do anything!

Is this a fixable bug? Or am I looking at a reformat/install of windows - really don't want that as I have a fair few AVI files that are going to be a pin to backup!

Arrghhhh!

If it's been working fine for a year I wouldn't say it's a bug.

Can you burn anything, using another program?

Good point!

Writer is fine, can do CD's/Data DVD's etc no problem.

It's definitely videostudio problem - comes up once it's finished converting from DV to MPG ready for burning/writing ISO...

Can only guess something in Windows has interefered with things - damn it, really didn't want to format...

So it sounds like you are going straight from your project to Share>Create Disc?

We recommend first creating a video file to avoid such problems. When you are done editing go to Share>Create File (choose a DVD template) to create a DVD-compliant MPEG-2 file. When that is done clear your timeline. Now go to Share>Create Disc and "insert" that MPEG-2 to burn.

Hmmm...

I wonder...

I'm working with a clear timeline (discovered that problem fairly early on!) but I have been adding AVI's rather than MPG files recently (realised how much quality I was losing capturing as MPG as opposed to DV) - so maybe that's why its come up all of a sudden as a problem...

I've installed the trial version of Ver 11Plus and that works fine - but will need to sort things for when the trial expires - can't see that much difference between 11 and 9 to justify upgrading so far!

Cheers for the info to date anyhow!
