Convert step go some problems 4101

Post by daddog »

I am trying to render a DVD for my school. I have made a few before without any problems, but this time I am not having any luck.

Anyone ever see this error message?
Convert step got some problems 4101

I choose create a disk, added the Ulead vid projects and then created the titles and went to the create a disk screen.

It comes up in the initial part of the rendering, about 27% into it.

In the properties for file conversion it says:
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)

Under Project settings I have checked:
Do not convert compliant MPEG files
Treat MPED audio
Auto repeat

Anyone have any ideas?

What are the Video Properies that you used in your Project? How did you capture, or where did the video come from?

This could be causing the hang-up while you are trying to render using VSP file (from project timeline) instead of trying to create your disk using DVD-Compliant video files.

You might also try changing the bitrate from VBR to CBR and bumping it down to around 6000kps.

Also try cleaning out your Temp Folders, to make sure VS has enough room to work.

While we have seen where it is possible to go straight to Create Disk with a project in the timeline, it still remains one of those methods that can cause difficulties. So in light of that, you could try creating your DVD-Compliant MPEG before trying to burn a disk and see if you still have the same issue..

Thank you sir. It is working now. :)

I went through some steps above in the sticky and that did the trick. Odd thing it worked before, so I am not sure what I did different.

As Vidoman has already indicated, a lot of people adopt their own work flow because it seems to work with their set up -- as it apparently has with your for all the time till now. This work flow might include capturing DV video direct to mpeg-2 format (when we recommend as far as possible to capture and edit in DV format); going straight from editing your captured video to burning a disc (jumping the intermediate but important step of first producing a DVD-compliant mpeg-2); and in the burning phase, inserting a project file instead of the mpeg-2 above.

As I say, adopting any or all of these practices may work for some people some of the time. But our collectively very long experience on this Board shows that sooner or later, something unexpected will happen that produces a poor -- or no -- result. The Recommended Procedures were thus developed as being the most likely work flow to produce a good result just about all the time (all other things being equal).

This was at least one of my mistakes. :)
